Simple Holiday Wreath

I had good intentions of writing this blog about three weeks back, but life and the hustle and bustle of the holidays have happily “gotten in the way.”

Last year a friend of mine saw a wreath that I had on my front door and asked where I got it. I puffed out my chest and proudly told her that I made it. I used branches from our Christmas tree and different greenery found around our house so the wreath cost me nothing!

I later went on to help that friend create her own wreath masterpiece for her front door.

This year she asked me when we were going to make our wreaths together… unbeknownst to me we had created our own little holiday tradition (I’m a sucker for a good tradition.) I purchased a reusable wire wreath (last year I used a wire hanger, which worked great, but this year I wanted something a little more sturdy.)

I took my wire wreath and fastened a few branches to it using floral wire.

I continued adding various berries, greens, etc. until I had a full wreath that I was proud of. A little tip: I find that when making an art project it helps to have a little wine (or beverage of your choice) so that you don’t over think your project. 🙂

All in all this project cost me around $4 (for the wire wreath and floral wire.)

Even as the wreath dries out it stays in tact and doesn’t fall apart. I am tempted to place this wreath in my attic to see if it’s still in good condition for next year’s holiday season.

Have any great wreath (or swag) making tips? I’d love to hear about them in the comment section below!

Enjoy the moment (and the holidays!)
Stephanie
